Quad G5 here and getting set up

I finally got the Quad G5 set up (mostly). So far I've got the G5 set up, RAM installed, Final Cut Studio, After Effects, and Final Touch HD installed. I still need to install the fibre channel card and the PCIe stub for the Multibridge Extreme. One step at a time.
It's the simple things in life...I can't tell you what a nice big grin it put on my face to see four bars from the Activity Monitor.
"Hi, my name is MIke, I'm a hardware geek."
All together now: "Hi, Mike..."
Comments:
Oh, and that was After Effects 6.5 rendering a square flying around with motion blur in a 1920x1080 16 bit comp. Quickest thing I could think of to tax the processor.

Oh, and now that I have a Quad G5 with 7800GT card, what games will thoroughly rule on this? You know, for "mission critical real time performance evaluation." That kind of thing. Is Halo 2 out for Mac yet? I'm sooooo far behind on the game stuff.
hey mike, george here... i say you try DOOM 3... at 1600 x 1200 resolution... that should tax up the system pretty good.. i was just playing it tonight after buying it about 5 months ago! did you find a good HD tv set yet? im in the same boat... i hear the panasonic plasma sets are good...
I think he talking about HDTV to watch TV, not a monitor for your G5. The Panasonic's are nice. My buddy just took delivery of a 50". Can't beat it for the price. I have a Dell for my computer and you can't beat that for the price either, but I don't think I'd watch TV on it.
"One of us. One of us. We accept you. One of us"
Oh wait, that's "freaks" not "geeks" :-)
Congrats on your new toy. I mean tool. Yeah. Yeah tool.

Why did you pick the multibridge over the kone, I am looking at the two currently for my Future purchase..
Do they both capture 24p..

Jayden -
they both capture 24p, but it is a bigger issue than that. At the time, MB-X was the only PCI-X and PCIe offered solution (although don't know when PCI-X will happen) and I wanted the flexibility and additional feature set of the MB-X, such as:
-2K monitoring
-DVI/HDMI based monitoring
-4:4:4 capability (in a PCIe package)
-etc.

...mmmmm I know that feeling of new hardware for a hardware geek - I'm one too :) ...wish I had four bars :(
and since some people made comments on tv sets... Seriously! Once you experience a front projector like the Panasonic AE900 on my 106" screen (of course in HD)... you wouldn't leave my house! ...or you'd run out to buy one and wonder why you were ever thinking of LCDS and Plasmas.
