Update/comments on RED info

Hey all -

Some posters have criticized the tone of the information presented on the RED article below. The tone has been misconstrued, but that is entirely my fault - the tone of the article was presented as a Q&A, but I should have been more clear about what was going on in my head due to my interest in getting information online - I realized readers were going to have a prompt list of questions that they'd want answered, so I wrote it as more of a FAQ style document than an actual sit down interview. My apologies for not being clear about that.

As for the tone of the questions, I was just having fun with what I perceived as a typical reader's excitement and questions about the product - I'd received much email to that effect already, and decided that was a logical format for the information presentation rather than a list of facts.

My apologies for presenting it as a glib moron interviewing first and third person entities.

Mike,

You don't owe any apologies to anyone. What the hell is with all the nay-saying cry babies posting all of the sudden? I think, Mike, it's time to revisit your idea of charging a small fee per month, if only to keep all the negative little ball-sucking trolls off. I can't believe people were posting just to insult you, instead of thanking you for the site. F them. It's assbags like that who will ruin the spirit of this site.

Amen to that!

JB is a wanker. Mike please resume normal service. Objective useful article links and comment.

ATB

ATB/Guy - "normal service" is gear review, workflows, commentary on news. The mode of only linking to other articles is actually a historical aberration of the past six months as I got busy. I prefer to make/find my own news. If links are all that is desired, feel free to configure NetNewsWire as I have with a search list of keywords that are HD related. Opinion and editorial is the part I really care about, half the time when I'm linking it is half as much for me to have a record.

Please do keep in mind that I do this for free, the ads don't even buy me lunch, and please let's not descend to name calling anybody.

Have a great weekend, and that's all I want to say on this stuff,

Jeremiah, you're alive!!
I was getting worried a little bit.
Did you lose your cell phone or am I just persona non grata all of the sudden?

Okay okay, this isn't a chat room.

Keep up the good work Mike.
Oh, and get your hands on a RED prototype, then we'll get together for lunch.

-Luis

I would venture to say that you can post your articles any way you like Mike, it's your blog, and you've managed pretty well so far. Keep it up, and like you say, I can get a press release on every product we read about here, but I visit HD For Indies so that I can get some actual opinion, unsolicited and completely biased hopefully.

Mike

Please take any criticism of the RED interview as a compliment for all your other blog entries. I wasn't suggesting at all that you just post links. It is indeed your objective and honest opinions and comments that are paramount.

When I said please resume normal service I meant please drop the faux interview style and continue with your usual style which has become an extremely useful and informative blog.

ATB (All the best) :)

Merry Xmas

Aw, man you know it's the holiday season- that time of year when every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands' necks... wait, no, that's not how it's supposed to be! Peace and joy and happiness! Yeah, that's what I feel at the megamall this time of year.

People can be cranky. I thought your post was breezy and fun.

Pat

Keep up the great work on keeping us all informed. The tone is appropriate!
