Article on Red up at DV.com
(due to DV's crazy login procedures, I can't link directly. Harrumph. Register/sign in, and it is presently the top article on the site as of Saturday morning).
Lots of details, some I've covered, some new, definitely worth reading. I'm off to the Digital Cinema Summit right now, no time to summarize for you folks.
Go read it!
And if you're attending NAB, find me on the floor in the Red booth all day Monday and part of Tuesday.
UPDATE - OK, NOW I'VE ACTUALLY READ IT - THERE'S LOTS OF STUFF I HAVEN'T DISCUSSED YET, SO GO READ IT..
Ted talks about wavelet based codecs, how it's a tapeless camera, the use of digital magazines, all kinds of good stuff.
Windowing the sensor down to get higher frame rates. Lots of juicy details!
Codex will be in the booth showing recording capabilities, and Assimilate will be showing how Scratch and work with 2K files in a viable way.
What about NLEs?
And then you'll most likely see a Final Cut station as a popular NLE choice. A lot of folks know a big part of my life at AJA was working with Apple, so that is a logical choice for me when it comes to what NLE to show first. We will of course support as best we can whatever NLE, DI products, storage products, etc. that our customers for the Red camera ask us to support.

It's an excellent interview with Ted Schilowitz, formerly of AJA! Now, for the exclusive interview with Jim Jannard, full proposed tech specs, accessory options, proposed pricing, and images of the camera prototype, you can read my interview with Jannard on Monday, 4/24/06, at 9:00am Pacific Standard Time, on the Studio Daily web site: www.studiodaily.com
When ever you want to post a link from DV.com than not requires additional registration procedure simply copy and paste the link (Printer friendly version. ) from the top like this

Good interview. Crazy pictures of the facilities! Oh man...
Prospects looking good for a joint Apple/RED announcement on Monday as well, as he specifically mentions a Final Cut station as the NLE of choice. But with this guy coming directly from AJA, who would have guessed otherwise?
This'll be a great year.

I had a dream about the RED camera. I was somewhere down the coast and I bumped into a guy who was taking some test pictures. He let me play with the camera but it had a dodgy trippod so I was paranoid that I would drop or damage the camera. It shot everything from 2K down to a simulated super 8 (with the square framing) it was increbile.
It had a big red button and the back of the body was the same as a TRV900.
It was a beautiful dream
