Music Video shot entirely on SI-2K MINI is posted on MTV2

Jason Rodriguez dropped me an email to let me know the following:

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to let you know we have a new music video from Madina Lake and directed by Dori Oskowitz "in association with Oasis Production Services called "Here I stand" now playing on MTV2. It was completely shot (including all the slow-motion) with the SI-2K MINI camera. It can also be viewed online at:

Thanks Jason!

Link for your convenience.

windows media 9 only, dun't work with flip4mac... no thnx...

Sorry, the WMV9 issue and viewing rights are completely out of our hands.

BTW one more addition is that we would also like to thank Oasis Production Services who were the production crew and producers of this music video.

I can't watch it on my PC either.

WMV9 really sucks!

Why are you recommending videos you've never seen, Mike? Is a video automatically great if it is shot in 2K?

It is of interest - SI-2K is an interesting camera, not a lot of work from it out there.

I like evening shots, but day pictures not too much.
Can we see 2K stills?

Go get MPlayer for OS X:

http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/MPlayerOSX_1.0rc1.dmg

and the x86 codecs:

http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/essential-macosx-x86-20060611.zip

or the PPC codecs:

http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/rp9codecs-macosx-20041107.pkg.zip

Read the READMEs and you should be able to play pretty well anything.

One of many useful features of the worlds best video player is the keyboard commands. For instance pressing + and - on the keypad moves the audio against the video in 100ms hunks to sync up badly synced files. I use it all the time to get a number for re syncing video. Rip the audio out of the video and re sync it. I just feed the offset in ms to the multiplexer and we fixed.

BTW, on further investigation, the reason that WMV is required is that the video is encrypted with DRM, and again, distribution rights belong to MTV2, so I have no non-DRM'd version at this point in time. If we get another copy of the video that we can also distribute, we will try to host it on our website or in another easier-to-download location.

Jason - thanks for your attentive responses here, much appreciated.

PenGun - but can you play the video in question with said setup? Otherwise, you've basically run an ad out of context for those guys.

; )

I'm teasing, not meant harshly. I enjoy our back/forth of Mac/Linux, much like two friends, both fans of different sports teams - gotta give the other poop about it....

Oh boy. Well I made flash work in a 32 bit browser just to get at that file. I'm 64 bit mostly and flash still does not work for 64 bit OSs.
After fooling around ... a lot I finally got to a page to play the "Here I Stand" one and it tells me that "copyrights prohibit playing this video outside the US".

I give up. If you can get me the file I bet I can play it, wmv9 is usually not a problem anymore.

The production company that shot the video is working on getting a HD version that can be more widely hosted and viewed by all without DRM issues, player compatibility, etc. MTV2 has to agree, but the pressure is being applied.
