Slashdot | Microsoft Acknowledges NBC's Wish is Its Command
GRRRRRRRR.
Grr.
Slashdot | Microsoft Acknowledges NBC's Wish is Its Command: "' Microsoft has acknowledged that Windows Media Centers will block users from recording TV shows at the request of a broadcaster. 'Microsoft included technologies in Windows based on rules set forth by the (Federal Communications Commission),' wrote a Microsoft spokeswoman, apparently referring to an FCC proposal that the courts struck down in 2005. 'Microsoft has put the requirements of broadcasters above what consumers want,'"

My little screed about Too Many Movies, Same Number of Viewers
Saw an LA Times article about Cannes that got me thinking about the state of indies, so wrote some rambling stuff about it - when technology runs ahead of the market.
Forgot to include a link to that great South Park episode where all the five minute famous web folks got into a fight - perfect example.
Here it is.

More Red One field lessons from Adam Wilt
ProVideo Coalition.com: Camera Log by Adam Wilt | Founder:
Adam Wilt does his usual thing - writing at length, in detail, about the nitty gritty of how things work. He talks about the challenges and importance of proper focal flange adjustments, and I liked his bit about the challenges of focusing:
"focusing by tape measure and the lens witness marks is how the Hollywood folks usually do it, and that seems to be the rule for RED ONE, too. Just be sure that you’ve set the flange focal depth properly before you try this, or you may be disappointed, especially with wider lenses or wider zoom settings."
More and more good stuff, if you want to shoot Red, very necessary reading IMHO.
I'd be writing this kind of stuff if I had time...

Best. Trailer. EVER.
ProVideo Coalition.com: HD for Indies by Mike Curtis
As I've previously said, I'm writing over at Pro Video Coalition. Still me, just in another location. Haven't been posting as much due to work.
But most gorgeous trailer since....ever?

Adam Wilt tests Red One's true optical resolution
ProVideo Coalition.com: Camera Log by Adam Wilt | Founder
Adam gets a new resolution chart that allows him to test the true optical resolution of a Red One, matching Red's Graeme Nattress' 3.2K number.
He tests several lenses, including a Zeiss 50mm SuperSpeed and a 50mm Ultra Prime, as well as a Red 18-50 lens.

Sorry I haven't been posting much, been working 60-80 hour weeks then flying home to Austin on weekends to pack up the house (which I'll be renting/pimping on here at some point!)
